A Forgotten Pioneer. A Cheshire Story. A National Legacy.
One hundred years after his birth, Body Positive invites you to help launch an exciting new heritage project celebrating the life and legacy of Antony Grey, one of the most influential figures in the struggle for LGBTQ+ equality in Britain. Although his name is less familiar today than many later activists, Antony Grey was a key architect of the campaign that helped bring about the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality through the Sexual Offences Act 1967.
Born in 1927, Antony Grey became one of Britain's most effective and respected campaigners for homosexual law reform. As Secretary of the Homosexual Law Reform Society during the 1960s, he worked tirelessly behind the scenes to influence politicians, engage the media and challenge public prejudice. His determination and strategic leadership helped create the conditions that led to the Sexual Offences Act 1967, one of the most significant milestones in LGBTQ+ history.
