Today, the county is home to vibrant annual LGBTQ+ celebrations—marking a powerful transformation. But what changed within Cheshire’s communities? And what was life like before Prides?

From Prejudice to Prides uncovers the journey from marginalisation to celebration, building on the groundbreaking ‘From Prejudice to Pride’ project, which revealed hidden LGBTQ+ histories dating back to 1707. Now, we shift focus to contemporary history—exploring how the struggles and triumphs of the past paved the way for today’s Pride events.

Over the last decade, Cheshire has undergone a remarkable shift. Through partnerships with museums, libraries, archives, and community organisations, we’re documenting this transformation—collecting artefacts, stories, and images that capture the evolution of LGBTQ+ life in Cheshire.
